Product Introduction |
 |
Hynix has upgraded its eMMC (e-NAND) product offerings by introducing 41nm based eMMC 4.3 in densities of 2-16GB. Customer samples are now available, and mass production is scheduled for year end 2009.
eMMC, which comprises the Flash Controller and NAND Flash in a single BGA package, simplifies hardware and software integration in consumer electronics and handset applications manufacturers by eliminating the need for changes in host software and firmware to accommodate process node migrations. Hynix eMMC features a robust ECC algorithm and highly efficient wear-leveling, providing the designer with a highly reliable industry standard solution.
Hynix¡¯s 41nm technology can offer better performance, compared to the first generation processes, to our customers planning to adopt this embedded storage solution. The finer process geometry ensures faster read/write speed with improved data retention characteristics.
The eMMC is ideal for use in mobile applications such as handsets, navigation devices, eBooks and other consumer applications. It can also find use in cache functions in PC servers.
The next e-NAND solutions from Hynix comprising the eMMC 4.41 family, will be introduced in the first half of 2010, and will be manufactured on 32nm NAND Flash technology. These products will support the latest versions of JEDEC standard protocols for eMMC.
